Jan. 27, 2008 Tu B'Shevat celebration

Tu B'Shevat celebrates our hope and intention to make the world more green
and healthy.  We learn how important it is to take care of the natural world
so that nature can take care of us.  Tu B'Shevat means the fifteenth of the
Hebrew month Shevat.  In Israel this holiday is celebrated outside.  It is a
time to eat fruit, plant new trees and to notice their beauty, nourishment,
and shelter.

A Tu B'Shevat Seder originally began in Israel approximately 400 years ago.
Its purpose is to celebrate the connection of all living things to the
earth.  As is true in the Passover Seder, the number four is important
because it represents the four seasons, the four elements that the earth is
made of (air, earth, water, and fire), and the four corners of the world.

At our Tu B'Shevat celebration on January 27th, 12:00pm at the Westminster
Recreation Center Community Room, we will have a Seder and lunch buffet.  In
addition, we will unite as a congregation to support the U.S. Fund for
UNICEF.  The Tap Project (www.tapproject.org), providing clean water to
children living in devastated lands, began last year in New York City.  It
is expanding to five additional cities this year.  Sheila Malcolm is chair
of Boulder Friends of UNICEF and is a City Coordinator implementing the Tap
Project in the Denver/Boulder area.  She will share a short video with us
after our Seder.

Please RSVP for the lunch buffet to Lenore and Ron Kingston, 303-828-0704
