August 27, 2005 - Annual Congregational Meeting

NOTE:  This is a members-only event.

Our annual congregational meeting is scheduled for August 27, beginning at 10:00 am.  The location is Barry Levene's house.  Members should have received an email with the address and directions.  All Beth Ami members are encouraged to attend.  It is the one time during the year that we all gather to review last year and set goals for the new one.  It is a great chance to bring up new ideas to improve what and how we do things.  After the meeting everyone is invited to stay for lunch.  Sandwich makings and drinks will be provided.  Please bring along another lunch-type item to share with the group. 

A suggested agenda follows:

1.  Call the meeting to order at 10:15

2.  Review the past year’s positives and negatives:  program, Shabbat services, school, holiday programs, finances, liturgy development, etc. in terms of quality and quantity. (Everyone)

3.  Elect officers for the coming year beginning September 1.  Candidates so far include:

            Vice-Pres. . . . . . . None

            Treasurer . . . . . . . Barry Levene

            Secretary . . . . . . . Sheila Malcolm / Maida Deborah

4.  Discuss and adopt changes we would like to make to improve our program or the way we operate.  Suggestions so far include creation of a more formal executive committee, increasing the level of participation and involvement of members in planning and carrying out our activities, and creating a program that matches the degree of commitment members are willing to make.  Bring your ideas 

5.  Present a budget for the coming year and adopt a dues structure.  This will depend a lot on the outcome of the discussion under number 4 above.

6.  Adjourn at 12:00 for lunch and further discussion.
