August 12, 2005 Movie presentation Beth Ami will be presenting the movie "Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport". This will take place in the Triboro Building on the RMCAD campus (Click here for directions). Mark Jonathan Harris' Oscar-winning documentary tells the story of an underground railroad -- the Kindertransport -- that saved the lives of more than 10,000 Jewish children at the dawn of World War II. Through interviews and archival footage, the survivors movingly recount being taken from their families and sent to live with strangers in the relative safety of England. Judi Dench narrates. The movie will be preceded by a short candle-lighting service, which will start at 700p. There will be a brief intermission during the movie to enjoy refreshments. Due to the nature of the program, we will need to begin the program promptly at 700p, so I suggest you plan to adequate time to travel to the facility to arrive a bit early. |
